After living with chronic back pain for more than 30 years, Bill was ready for the first opportunity to cut back on the opioid medications he was taking. In 2016 when intractable pain became a qualifying medical condition for Minnesota’s Medical Cannabis program, the pain clinic Bill works with recommended starting the registry process. He soon joined the program through LeafLine Labs.

“My lower back pain is there all the time,” Bill explains. “It’s constant. But medical cannabis relaxes me to the point where the pain doesn’t bother me like before. There’s no doubt there’s relief.”

A retired millwright who worked in machinery installation and repair, Bill suffered an accident in 1984 that required multiple surgeries in 1986 and 1987. He continued working, but the chronic pain continued throughout his career.

“More than anything, what I wanted to do was lessen my opiate use. Medical cannabis works for me for breakthrough pain, and I have nothing but great things to say about it. It’s helped me, and maybe I can cut back on the opiates even more.”

He’s especially thankful for his LeafLine Labs care team. “The people at my care center are personal,” Bill comments. “They care about what they’re doing and about their clients and patients. They treat me like they’ve known me all my life. I’m grateful I have this group of people to work with.”
