How Can I Register for Medical Cannabis in Minnesota 2020?March 3, 2020
The process for getting into the medical cannabis program in Minnesota requires a few steps to complete. Our guide below should help you navigate this program in 2020 and help you register for the medical cannabis program as smoothly as possible.
1. Speak to Your Healthcare Practitioner
First, visit your physician (or an advanced practice registered nurse or physician assistant). Ask them about medical cannabis as a treatment option and to certify your qualifying medical condition. Your healthcare practitioner, once approved to certify, then submits (on-line) your certification to the Minnesota Department of Health’s Office of Medical Cannabis.
Use our HCP Checklist to talk to your doctor about medical cannabis and the Minnesota patient registry process. Call us at 1-844-LEAFLINE for help in finding a certifying health care provider.
2. Join the Minnesota Cannabis Registry
Once you have been certified with a qualifying condition, you will receive a notification (normally via email) that you can formally register with the Minnesota Department of Health’s Office of Medical Cannabis.
You will need to submit a $200 yearly fee (reduced to $50 for qualifying patients) and information that confirms your identity. The Office of Medical Cannabis will verify your information and confirm your entry into the state's registry via email.
You can only legally purchase cannabis medication in Minnesota if you are active in the medical cannabis registry.
